Amazon Prime Day Cybersecurity Tips

It's that time of year again. With Amazon Prime Day here, many people may fall victim to the increased likelihood of malicious cyber threats. Make sure you and your staff stay aware of

  • Email phishing campaigns posing as Amazon Prime Day (or competitor sales from Walmart and Target) promos
  • Fake coupon code links
  • Spoof sites
  • Fake gift card promos and numbers

Navigate directly to Amazon.com versus navigating from any link. Amazon will never send unsolicited emails asking for private information, like ID question verifiers, social security number, credit card or banking information. Suspicious emails may

  • Ask you to update payment information
  • Contain an order confirmation of a false purchase
  • Request login information
  • Include links to install software

If the "from" line of the email contains an Internet Service Provider (ISP) other than @amazon.com, then it's a fraudulent email. If you receive a suspicious email, do not click on any links and report it immediately.
